L’Oreal USA on Expansion Mission in its Kentucky Plant
Maybe signs of good times to come or signs of a reviving economy in the United States, the recent announcement by L’Oreal USA brings cheers to Kentucky.
L’Oreal USA a wholly-owned subsidiary of Paris-based L’Oreal SA in France is a cosmetics and hair care products manufacturer known the world over for its lovely models and good products. The company announced plans to double the work force by adding 211 jobs at the plant in L’Oreal USA in Florence, northern Kentucky.
According to Eric Wolff, manager of the L’Oreal USA plant, this expansion will help the company cater to the demands of consumers for optimized hair care brands. The boost in employment follows the announcement of an expansion project at the facility valued at $ 42 million.
The Florence plant already has 220 employees with another 60 people working at its distribution center in Walton. L’Oreal USA has chalked out plans to start the hiring process for new plant workers in the first quarter of 2013 which will continue up to 2014, said Daniel Lowry, a spokesman for the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development.
The company has received strong support from the state government also. The Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority has sanctioned up to $5 million in tax incentives for the expansion initiative.
L’Oreal USA will also receive tax benefits of up to $800,000 from another program that helps companies to recoup state sales and use taxes on construction costs and equipment used in research and development.
These incentives are part of the Kentucky Business Investment program, and have been launched to assist L’Oreal USA in its job and investment plans. Both the company and the job market in Kentucky are expected to benefit. The location is ideal for business and is also a good source for high quality workforce.
The expansion initiative of L’Oreal is due to proactive efforts made by the state government. Thanks to the efforts of Gov. Steve Beshear who met with L’Oreal officials in Paris to sow the seeds for this expansion project, during an economic development trip to Europe in summer 2012.
Professionals in the field of chemical engineering, microbiology, toxicology, biochemistry, material science and behavioral science in the research and development department in the plant will formulate innovative, effective products that match the needs of the multi-dimensional and multi-cultural market.
Whether it is hair color, hair styling product or shampoo, L’Oreal presents a cornucopia of products that promise to match every need.
