Apira Science Unveils FDA-Approved LLLT-Based iGrow Hair Growth Platform

This will be surely welcome news to the 35 million men in the United States who suffer from male pattern hair loss. Not to forget the even greater population worldwide.

Apira Science announced that it has received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its iGrow Hair Growth Platform. This iGrow hair rejuvenation system leverages red light technology and has been tested to effectively treat androgenetic alopecia or male pattern hair loss.

Nicholas Brox, president and CEO, Apira Science exclaimed, “This landmark achievement represents a significant and strategic milestone for Apira Science.”

According to him the system delivers LLLT treatment within the comfortable confines of the patient’s home. The system is safe, effective and easy to operate and eliminates need for the patient to visit a clinic.

The system has been designed to treat androgenetic alopecia using innovative engineering methods and applied science techniques. The light-based hair growth system can be easily used by consumers in their homes. More new products that can be used at home for LLLT hair growth are expected to be introduced in the market.

The hair growth system is based on a non-invasive, low-level red laser and LED light which can re-energize the unhealthy cells located in and around a hair follicle, according to Jeff Braile, president, medical device division, Apira Science.

The system has been designed after research of all factors relating to hair loss and how the light therapy can counter it. Successful test results obtained form the LLLT treatment using the system have been found to be effective in tackling androgenetic alopecia.

The International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery reveals that because of various causes a population of 35 million men in the US are afflicted with male pattern baldness which begins from the late teens and progresses then on.

For people preferring a non-surgical hair restoration procedure Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is the best alternative. LLLT uses lasers that can stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles. The revitalized hair follicles can now grow new hair like before. The blood flow actually supplies more oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles to induce natural hair growth in the otherwise inactive hair follicles.

Modern technological developments have come as a boon to people suffering from
hair loss. Previously hair loss patients opted for wigs or hid under hats or scarves. Later hair transplants were introduced but they gave a pluggy look.

Now several options are available to regain hair which may be expensive at first. But with the advent of more choices and proliferation of more clinics treatments are going to become affordable for a larger population.
