Oil massage People who have tried it will swear by the efficacy of hot oil massages. Not only good for the hair such massages help calm nerves, relieve pain and help us unwind. Whichever oil is selected it is warmed to a bearable temperature and nicely massaged into the scalp with bare fingers. The warmth is soothing and stimulates blood flow thereby relaxing the mind and body and rejuvenating hair growth.

Coconut Oil helps treat dry or damaged hair providing lubrication to the hair shafts to make hair shiny. It suits people with greying and thinning hair as it has natural cooling properties. Almond oil helps treat dry hair which is thin and frizzy with split ends. Sesame oil serves as a scalp nourisher and moisturizes the hair. It reduces stiffness and tightness in the scalp. It helps those with thin, dry hair with split ends. Olive oil massage is good for kids and for people with very thick and oily hair. It purifies and keeps pores open.

Vinegar

After washing hair use Vinegar as a conditioner to add shine. Vinegar can be massaged into the scalp before a shampoo to control dandruff. Besides it adds cleanliness and luster to hair which is lost due to use of sprays, shampoos, and conditioners.

Dipping the head in a small basin of water and vinegar or using a spray bottle helps administer the vinegar to hair. A mixture of 2 cups water and 1/2 cup vinegar is a good conditioner after rinsing the shampoo. The mixture is washed off after few minutes with water. Not only dandruff the vinegar rinse also controls frizziness in dry or damaged hair.

Lemon juice

Another natural cure to rid hair of itchy and scaly dandruff. Massage 2 tablespoons lemon juice into the scalp and rinse with water. Follow this with a mixture of 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 cup water to rinse. Juice of one lemon mixed in coconut oil can be applied on the scalp directly using a cotton ball by parting hair patiently to cover the entire scalp. This helps when the dandruff attack is severe.

Yogurt hair mask To deal with dry, frizzy hair and to moisturize it making hair easily manageable and silky a yogurt hair mask is a must. Required ingredients are 1 egg white; 1/4 cup plain organic yogurt and 1/4 cup mayonnaise.

The frothily beaten egg is mixed with yogurt and mayonnaise. This is gently massaged into wet hair, covered with a plastic shower cap and left to rest for 30 minutes. This is followed by a cold rinse.

To add volume

To add that extra volume to hair and make it bouncy mix one egg yolk, a half cup of honey and two tablespoons of olive oil and two small ripe avocados in a bowl. The mixture is applied on the head covering it fully and left alone for one or two hours. This should be followed by a shampoo and conditioning regimen.
