Winter Hair Care with Unique Homemade Hair Packs
Come winter and everyone starts worrying about how to protect their crowning glory from the adverse effects of the cold weather. The use of woolen caps and scarves will only accentuate the problem making it go static and wiry and leading to hair loss. Designer hair styles may not be advisable as it will get messed up anyway. Just leave hair loose and protect it to keep it healthy and glorious thorough the winter.
Before talking about the hair packs for winter we need to classify the type of hair. Many beauticians do not agree with the normal, oily and dry categories. Hair can be oily at roots and dry at ends too. The best classification is as fine, coarse, straight, wavy, curly or frizzy. Based on hair type the best hair pack is picked. It is best to avoid chemical hair packs used in parlors and better to indulge in easy homemade hair pack recipes.
Dull hair can be given life by applying a mixture of vinegar and honey in a cup of warm water. This will add volume to hair but is advisable for use only occasionally as vinegar may harm the hair. Similarly beer makes hair lustrous when applied, left to stand for just ten minutes and washed with shampoo.
Egg and banana pack – Ripe bananas which are good conditioners is mixed with two beaten eggs juice of one lime and two vitamin E capsules. This mixture is applied on hair, left for 30 minutes and washed with shampoo to make hair manageable in winter. Banana packs help people with dry and frizzy hair.
Another concoction is mashing one banana with 1 tablespoon of honey and lemon juice. This is best for the roots. After 30 minutes a mild shampoo should be used to wash the pack off to make hair soft and manageable.
Other egg Packs - In case hair is damaged owing to use of chemicals, special hairdos or use of too many pins an egg pack will come to the rescue. Two egg yolks and one egg white are mixed along with juice of 1 lemon and few drops of honey. The pack should stay for 40-50 minutes and rinsed with water. Then a cup of curd is applied for 15 minutes and washed off with a shampoo. This will revitalize hair as eggs moisturize hair.
Another egg pack is made by blending together two eggs and three tablespoons olive oil. This is applied on hair and left standing for 20 minutes and washed thoroughly. In all cases it is better to cover the hair with a shower cap.
Egg and yoghurt pack - A cup of yoghurt and the yolk of one egg are mixed and to this is added a teaspoon of lemon juice drop by drop and mixed well. The pack is applied on hair and left for 30 minutes and washed. Yoghurt tackles the dandruff which appears in winters owing to dryness of scalp.
Strawberry pack – A cup of crushed strawberries, half cup of shredded rosemary and one tablespoon vinegar are mixed and applied on the hair and left for 20 to 30 minutes. Hair is rinsed when the paste becomes dry to give a fresh look.
To treat static hair fenugreek seeds softened by soaking in water overnight is ground and mixed with a cup of curd and applied on hair and left till it dries. On shampooing and drying, hair becomes manageable and does not stand.
