Basic Hair Care Tips
While looking at a photo or a real person our attention is drawn first to the hair. Both the presence of beautiful hair and its absence attract equal attention.
It may be beautiful for some people thanks to genetic factors or to the care taken consciously by the owner. Although reasons for hair loss ranges from genetic factors, medication, life style, water and so on, a little care will at least help us reduce hair fall.
The basic hair care tips remain the same in every culture and region although the methods and ingredients may vary.
The first tip to having good hair is a ‘regular care regimen.’ It is not enough if the hair is kept clean and moisturized for a week and ignored the following week. Regular care ensures that hair is kept healthy and glamorous always.
A good oil massage before washing hair is a must. This will rejuvenate the scalp and hair follicles to maintain healthy hair and to promote growth. Twice a week apply oil on the scalp and hair and leave over night to be washed next day.
Hair should be kept clean and free of dirt and grime. To keep hair clean harsh shampoos are best avoided as they remove the moisture content of the hair. While washing, hot water should be avoided at all costs. Hot water makes hair dry and brittle. Tepid water is better. A good rinse to remove the shampoo completely is also necessary.
While picking hair care products, don’t just go for Top Brand, attractive package, good advertisement and so on. Check the composition details on the label. If it says that the product has formaldehyde or alcohol, don’t use it as it will make hair dry. Natural products are better. Also it is wise to get professional help to find the best and most suitable product.
It is best to maintain the cleanliness of combs and brushes. Clean them regularly with soap and water. Also it is best to use wide toothed combs to remove tangles. Recently some beauticians have started advocating combing of hair with upward strokes to get good results. Hair should not be brushed or combed when wet.
Using a leave-in conditioner or hair serum daily after bath and the use of a wash-off conditioner after washing hair helps maintain glossy locks.
Both the skin and hair need optimum hydration. Drink enough water to maintain the body and bounce in hair. Other dietary recommendations include fish, flaxseed, nuts and other foods rich in omega-3 fatty acid. Better results can be achieved with vitamin supplements having biotin.
All these tips are time tested, effective and easy to follow on a regular basis.
