The natural cycle of aging not only affects a person’s physical and psychological health, it also affects hair. Hair growth and hair fall are but parts of a cycle which changes pattern as a person grows older.

Greek Yogurt is a main ingredient in hair masks. In diet they offer vitamin B5 and vitamin D in low fat types. It improves hair and follicle health.

Egg yolk is a good source of biotin, also called vitamin B7 or vitamin H. Biotin serves as a co-enzyme that helps in the addition or removal of carbon dioxide to or from biologically active compounds. It strengthens hair and prevents thinning or splitting.

Blueberries

Blueberries rich in antioxidants prevent cell damage and hence can stimulate hair growth. It contains proanthocyanidins which is a plant chemical that interacts with hair follicles and makes it grow fast. The berries have vitamin C which promote blood circulation in scalp making hair follicles healthy. Two servings a week is good enough.

Carrots

Carrots are rich in beta carotene which is converted to vitamin A by the body. Vitamin A helps produce scalp-sustaining oils.

Spinach

Spinach, broccoli, zucchini, avocado, liver and parsley are rich in catalase which is responsible for breaking hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen. This prevents hair from going grey or bleaching out.

Spinach also has vitamin A needed for healthy epithelial cells besides being rich in vitamin C. These vitamins help produce sebum that moisturizes the scalp and prevents hair loss. Spinach is rich in iron which fortifies the hair and prevents hair fall.

Bok Choy

Similarly Bok Choy with good iron content makes hair strong and healthy.

Walnuts

Walnuts have oils that provide the elastin in the hair to induce growth. If the oil content is less then hair falls or breaks and splits.

Water

Last but not the least is water. Drinking enough water in the form of other liquids, juices etc. hydrates the skin and scalp. It detoxifies and hydrates the body and maintains a glow on hair and skin.
