Low Laser Light Therapy to Treat Hair Loss
Long time sufferers of hair loss issues and those just starting to see a glimpse of their scalp from thinning locks, are no doubt scouring the Web in search of hair loss solutions that will put the issues of balding behind them. In addition to topical treatments and oral remedies there are options like hair transplant surgeries or a newer practice that uses low-level laser therapy also known a “LLLT” as a therapy to help stimulate growth by increasing “mitochondrial membrane through a process called photobiomodulation.”
Machines that leverage this treatment therapy for the purpose of hair loss have won repeated support from the FDA.
Most recently, the Sunetics Model “G” was given a stamp of approval by the FDA for in office LLT treatments. It users 107 laser diodes and is a free standing hood that covers and delivers the scalp with lasers. Unlike wearable devices or handheld LLT systems this is delivering the lasers continuously to the area.
This machine is one of 5 LLT machines to be approved in three years. Suggestions for patients are sessions lasting 30 minutes, three times a week.
Alan J. Bauman, M.D. who has played a role in practicing and support LLT treatments at his hair transplant clinic in Boca Raton, FL. since it was beginning in 1999, has announced he is now recruiting male and female hair loss patients for a new laser therapy clinical trial but does suggest that the treatment along, is is best for those just getting thinning hair or hair loss.
“We’ve been incorporating LLLT into our multi-therapy regimens for the past 15 years, and I’ve seen first-hand how effective this side effect-free treatment can be for reviving dying hair follicles and stimulating hair growth in both men and women,”Bauman said.
