Hair Loss: The Benefits of Oils
It’s early in the morning and you're doing your typically routine, wake up to the alarm, shower, brush your teeth, get dressed, do your hair, and out the door for your workday ahead. But in the misty, foggy bathroom mirror you notice something - your scalp… and its peeking through your hair - showing a lot more of itself then you remember being visible before, then you notice your hair brush and its got more hair wrapped around its body then you can tie up in a ponytail. Panic set in. Now what?
Chances are a number of us have experienced this, or something similar in our lifetime - and its a scary thing. While there aren't ground for a hair transplant surgery, or a call to the doctor - yet - you want to start to get better control over whats happening and see what can be done to aide with this new found hair loss.
Many professionals point to the use of oils as a way to combat hair loss issues.
Because oils contain nutrients and are natural the use of them on ones scalp has been recommended as a way to promote hair growth. Suggests include the use of a natural oil from coconuts or olives and warm in and apply it gently to the scalp, rubbing and massage it in to help stimulate blood flow to the hair follicles.
This can be performed from 2-3 times per week. Be careful to wash out the oil build-up after a period of time as clogged pores on the scalp will reverse the benefits and also cause hair to fall out.
Another popular massage and DIY treatment for the scalp involved the use of equal parts olive oil and egg applied to the scalp for one hour and then washed. In addition to the benefits provided by the oil application, eggs contain sulphur, protein and minerals that are key in helping hair to grow again.
