New Study Could Help Men Aging Eventually Battle the Bulge and Balding.
If there’s one thing all men share in common as they age, many sympathize with each others receding hairlines and bulging bellies. Staying in shape is not as easy as it once was, and some things are just out of our control. But for some men who are noticing less and less hair on their scalps, the desire to restore their youthful appearance is great.
One new study is showing some promising findings on why these two factors plague men and offering a chance for a cure or at least remedy to finally be found.
According to news reports, The University of Melbourne and King’s College London released a new study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences that showed a link between how men grow hair and gain fat. The report showed that the same protein that helps hair follicles to grow hair again also inhibits fat production.
Using this new research finding, there is a chance that someone out there would be able to create a topical cream made up of the same treatments but that would actually dissolve fat, reports suggested.
Rodney Sinclair, who is the professor of Dermatology at the University of Melbourne and Epworth Hospital and worked on this study along with Professor Fiona Watt from King’s College London, was quoted as saying this cream, if developed could potentially trim fat where it was applied by, “pausing the production of factors that contribute to fat cell growth.”.
“This is the first demonstration that the opposite also holds true in that the skin below the hair follicle can regulate the development of fat,” Sinclair was quoted as saying.
