traditional methods such as hair transplant surgery have become the most popular way to resolve the issue, but new techniques are also being introduced like scalp micropigmentation, a kind of tattoo that creates the natural look of a shaved head for someone who has lost all of the hair on their head.

For some clients, this type of procedure is less drastic than a transplant or something they feel more comfortable doing - especially since tattooing has become so commonplace today.

To create the look of natural hair on the scalp, the technique creates many little dots on the scalp in place of where hair follicles would be. Once this is completed it gives the look of a normal shaved head of hair - without all the needed maintenance.

Other more involved techniques today include using 3D hair follicle models that look just like the natural hair follicle and can be implanted in the scalp to areas that need help growing new hair. This is still a new technology, but tests in mice reportedly generated natural looking hair.
