Unilever to Pay Up for Hair Loss Problems

Earlier this year, news that women who we’re looking for a shiny hair treatment and ended up with a hair loss horror story and were suing the products maker, exploded onto the scene.

According to the accusations, the women had purchased a product, “Suave Professionals Keratin Infusion 30-Day Smoothing Kit,” but ended up with hair loss problems and other damages instead of the promised results.

The supposed allegations, filed in California federal court, said the manufacturer, Unilever, failed to tell people that the product, "contains an ingredient or combination of ingredients that causes significant hair loss upon proper application," CNN reported.

In addition to the complaints photos were also filed showing women who had suffered burns on their scalp, discoloration of their hair, irritation and more.

Now, a settlement has been reached in the case and Unilever needs to fork over  $10.2 million dollars split in separate fundings for those who just purchased the product, and those who were actually hurt by its use.

Reportedly, those who purchased the product, and did not use it, are eligible for a $10 refund. While those who were actually injured from using the products will have $10 million from the funds to claim ranging from payment of medical and hair treatment expenses as well as payments up to $25,000 for anyone who was worst impacted by the use of the product and underwent significant damage to their hair and scalp.
