Hair Loss Issues on the Rise in Korea?

Male hair loss, while never a welcoming topic for those who suffer from it, was once just a occasional occurrence for men, mostly based on what their fathers, grandfathers and ancestors had left on their scalps as they aged.

Over time though, and with more knowledge and understanding, hair loss has become a bigger and more complicated issue that previously regarded.

While hereditary genes will still play a role in whether or not you will experience hair loss, other factors like medicines, illness, stress and our environment are also taking a toll on the outcome of our tresses today.

For men, the look is not so much something sexy that leaves you feeling like a twin of Vin Diesel, but something that can even take a toll on one’s self esteem. Luckily there are tons of topical and surgical treatments for hair loss today that anguish is no longer the only way to deal.

One recent report by Claire Lee, writing an article in The Korea Herald, looked specifically at the increase in men in their 30’s and 40’s in Korea experiencing hair loss.

The article cited a study from Health Insurance Review & Assessment Service in Seoul that found 4.8 percent of Korean men were seeking treatment for hair loss issues.  Likewise, from  2009  to 2013 the number of patients for hair loss increases from 180,000 to 210,000.

In Korea, topical treatments like those offered in the U.S. include Propecia and Finasteride.

The market is rich in the area, with men spending more than $18 billion in 2013 on treatments.

Tips offered by the organization, and detailed in The Korean Herald include the need to make sure all shampoo and conditioner product is cleaned properly from the hair as well as letting the hair dry completely without use of too many heat styling tools and products.
