Hair Loss Woes for Newborns?

For most men and women hair loss begins from puberty and on through old age. This is typically the time when our hormones are changing and heredity is kicking in. But some recent reports have been looking at the worry some parents are having when they notice their newborns, who entered the world with lots of hair, are suddenly shedding their locks.

One article recently posted by BoldSky looked at the various concerns expressed by parents of newborns as far as hair loss goes. While not all babies are born with a full head of hair, those that are, could possibly start to see some of that hair falling around the age of even 3 months due to such things as hormonal changes or a resting phase for their hair follicles.

Other reasons for hair loss can be attributed to the position of a baby’s scalp during sleep - especially if the soft part of the head is rubbing against the pillow a lot. Or just a condition related to exposure to hormones when in the womb.

Some warning signs to malnutrition or iron deficiency however can also be hair loss. Always be sure to keep a close eye and monitor the child's overall well being and of course seek professional opinion from your family care doctor to ensure everything is OK.
