Why Women Are Losing Their Hair

Hair loss is a serious and scary thing for both men and women. While men also experience anxiety and shame when they start to lose the hair on their head, he experience is even more devastating for women who are typically seen with long full locks.

The number of reasons men or women can experience hair loss overlap and range from everything to heredity, illness and stress.

For women especially however, factors such a over styling, hormones or PCOS can be a main factor in hair loss.

The warning signs of using too many harsh chemicals and hot tools to style one’s hair have been around for a while, but many people still do not take heed. Until its too late.  Everything from using too many hot flat irons or chemical treatments on the hair, to wearing super tight braids and cornrows or having weave sewn into the scalp can all be culprits of hair loss.

However, as women, there are also things outside of our control - such as the stress and hormone changes that occur during pregnancy or even changes in hormonal balances, like when women are undergoing menopause can all cause hair loss.

Another issue that plagues women is iron deficiency and an issue with PCOS, polycystic ovary syndrome which causes women to have more male sex hormones and as a result - thinner hair.
