Better Hair Brushing and Cleaning Makes for Less Hair Loss
Taking care of the hair on our head is something that’s been taught to most of us since we we’re small. It goes along with brushing your teeth and keeping up with hygiene. We’re taught to wash our hair and keep clean.
Over the years I've heard numerous recommendations to reduce that hair washing to help keep some of the natural oils in. So now, instead of washing every single day when I am in the shower, I’ll wear a shower cap on alternating days. Honestly, if you’re using a quality shampoo, it really is a great way to save time and your locks.
I have a very oily scalp so leaving my hair for anything more than 1 extra day unwashed is not doable in my personal situation. But every person is different. Thats also key with keeping hair loss at bay. Understanding your own hair, your scalp and finding what systems and products will work best to keep your hair healthy.
Another new thing I’m learning about my hair is that brushing it the right way - can make a world of difference in preventing hair loss. I have naturally curly hair that tends to knot easily - so admittedly I don’t always brush my hair. But I should. And I will start to.
The key here, like with shampoos is choosing the right type of hair brush for your hair - in my situation, using a detangling brush helps ease the brushing process and avoids having to rip through a matted mess later on.
Whether you’re of European descent like me, or if you have a coarser hair and want to keep it natural - do your research and find ways to properly care for an brush your hair - not only will this prevent hair loss but you may even notice it finally starting to grow as an added benefit.
