Combating Hair Loss in the UAE

Hair loss can happen to anyone. Both men and women across the globe at varying ages experience hair loss thanks to factors like heredity, poor nutrition, illness- and so many other factors being discovered daily.

While things like heredity, and falling ill, are out of our control. Maintaining healthy lifestyle and taking care of our tresses is something that can help many of us from experiencing hair loss.

For some, the regions they live in have actually shown to incite hair loss. In these situations what can you do other than relocate? Hair transplants have become the answer in these situations and they are growing in popularity as the problem continues.

In the UAE for example, the amount of pollution and other extreme weather common in the
Middle East are leading more men and women to experience hair loss problems.

A recent
report by The National notes that specialist in Dubai are predicting, “about 60 percent of the male population in the UAE is expected to experience some kind of hair loss in their lifetime.” This is in comparison to the global average which is about 40 percent.

In an interview with Dr Dimitrios Ziakas of Direct Hair Implantation at the Al Borj Medical Centre in Business Bay, The National uncovered that the procedure being offered uses no incisions and just directly implants single hair follicles into the scalp. What results, is a natural hair growth again in what was once the problem area - and according to Dimitrios has a ninety percent success rate.

What’s most interesting from his interview with The National the Doctor said in the past patients we’re going to the clinic for help when they were older and had already lost most of their hair - so it was too late.

Now, people have become more educated about their options and the possibilities with
hair transplants and they are showing up to the office at a much younger age.
